Observations on a selection of topics such as privacy, productivity tools, infosec, innovation, ux and photography
...it could cover other topics I find interesting too though. :)
Hi everyone! I’m Mathias, and I write “I Make Things Work”.
In my writing, my take is most often on topics on technology, privacy and productivity tips for “regular” people. My regular readers (from my old platforms) have an interest in these topics but aren’t technologists/developers themselves (and instead are good at other areas/topics).
I should point out that I often use an angle of avoiding the “Big Tech” companies (for Privacy related reasons) as much as possible. I am finding, and trying out, various competing services, so you don’t have to, and then I share my experiences with you.
For me it started years ago with running my web sites and informing my friends on tips and tricks for the mentioned topics. I wanted to avoid typing up the same information multiple times and instead send them a link. I am thinking Substack will suit my topic areas well.
For me it is important that you as a reader understand I am not being paid by any company to cover any particular/specific content or service. I link out to further reading quite a lot but it will never be affiliate links or links that make me money by you clicking on it. I link out so you can investigate things for yourself, if you wish to do so.
My Twitter intro text looks like this, which might give you a view of who I am and where I am coming from: Digital Strategist, Innovation/Management Catalyst/Coach, Experienced People/Project/Client Manager, IT Architect. Likes Photography, Infosec and good UX.
PS. I also occasionally cover other topics that I find of interest. For example I am intrigued/fascinated by conspiracy theories and what makes people believe/follow them. I am also deeply interested in finding good news sources with as little bias as possible, and that people take a wider view on a topic before sharing posts in anger on various social media.
